What should a career practitioner read?

The books Nata Novoselova reads and recommends in her career-guidance practice.

What books does Nata Novoselova read as a professional?

In the last 3 years, I have read fewer books that are directly related to the topic of choosing a profession, finding a professional identity.

The reason is very simple: I’ve read them a lot before and at some point I realized that I almost stopped reading... classics, just new fiction books and that’s what I’ve read. Bad!

As my high school literature teacher recently said, “Natasha, there’s ALL that is written in the books you read as a professional to improve your skills and develop your business!” All! And even more ...”

Isn't Gogol's poem "Dead Souls" a book that introduces us to the magnificent typology of people?

And isn't that valuable to a career expert working with people?

Valuable!

Very.

I will share with you 5 books that I have read recently as a professional = as a person 😉

Book one: Immunity to burnout. Emotional intelligence for productive work without disruption.

The author is an incredibly beautiful woman, a professor at the Wharton School of Business [University of Pennsylvania] Kandy Vince.

I really liked the author’s idea [based on numerous studies] that the more significant social ties a person has, the more well-off they are.

Dr. Vince’s book is a guide to burnout prevention!

And very interestingly, the author talks about immunity to burnout!

Those who must burn out, but do not burn out, have one thing in common: high speed.

Weight of emotional intelligence!

The second book is Rita Hayworth or the Shawshank Rescue.

Written by Stephen King [who needs no introduction]

For many years, the film “Escape from Shawshank” is in the TOP 20 of my favorite films.

I recently decided to read the book myself.

I think this book is one of King’s best books. For me, this book is about a very important quality - life.

And...kindness.

King showed the hero, who was not “murdered” by the system.

One of the most life-affirming books.

Book Three: Love, Freedom, Solitude. A new perspective on relationships.

Author: Osho

Two years ago, I became acquainted with the practice of Osho meditation.

I recently came across this book in the library.

Let me just quote the author:

“If you can have freedom and love at the same time, you don’t need anything else. You have everything for which life is given.”

Very much recommended.

This book is useful for both personal life and professional life. Fact.

Book Four: The poem "Dead Souls."

Author: Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol

At the end of December, I went to the play “Dead Souls” in our theater “Red Torch” and decided to re-read ... individual chapters.

Personality typologies...the great classics invented no worse than other experts 😉

There really is a lot in this poem...

Book five: "Peace."

Author: Leonid Andreev

A short story that you read in 15 minutes that will make you think for a few days.

All great books and new thoughts!
