“There is no money in my field, what to do?” is one of the most common questions that our professionals hear.
The situation when you like your work, but the income leaves much to be desired, is really difficult. Let's figure out how to approach this problem.
→ First, it’s important to understand what you’re really getting out of your field. If your work brings satisfaction, joy and a sense of self-realization, this is a huge plus. However, if the financial side is concerned, it is worth considering how to expand your horizons.
→ One option is to look for related niches where your skills can be sought after for a lot of money. Think about how you can apply your knowledge to a different field or a higher level. For example, if you work in education and suffer from low salaries, it may be worth considering options for private teaching, authorship of educational programs or counseling.
→ Another way is to improve skills. There may be areas in your field that pay better. Additional training or certification can open the door to higher-paying positions.
→ Do not forget about the combination options. You can continue to do what you love, while developing a more profitable project. It can be your own business, freelancing or a project on the side, which will compensate for the missing income.
And finally, ask yourself: is there really a “lack of money” in your field? Sometimes it’s just a stereotype, and maybe you just need to change the way you monetize your skills and time. Do your research, find out how others in your field earn more, and don’t be afraid to experiment.
